second semester senior.

Too much has changed, too many things have grown apart. I want to rekindle things, make them better, make them how they used to be. But that can't happen can it? No things must move forward. Hurts have been forgiven, but its left an emptiness. God is good, but the day does not seem as bright as I would like it to be.

Life is not about being content, but it is not about pursuing happiness. Its about walking through valleys, finding joy, and holding on to it tightly.

Integrity of Beauty: What kind of pie are you?

Lets say you have two pies placed on a counter: both look exactly the same and have a place card in front of them that says “Apple Pie”.

image

To anyone walking past they appear to be the same exact pie- same crust, size, etc. What they do not realize is that one of these is a lie. Underneath the perfect crust is not apples, no, instead there is mud. You would never know, just looking at the two pies that one of them is made of dirt; you would just assume that it was made of the same stuff as the other pie.
Well that assumption goes as far as the first crack in the crust.
Now let me ask you this, which pie is more beautiful? Remember they both look the same…
(The quote I posted from Audrey Hepburn (a woman who is renowned in the subject of beauty) should illustrate your answer.))
Beauty is not strictly restricted to the exterior. Everyone has heard that “it doesn’t matter what you look like on the outside, its the INSIDE that counts.” While I do believe this to be partially true, I still think that people are missing the point. Beauty shines through both the inside and outside of oneself— both aspects compliment each other.
to be continued…

DRAINED
Katy

A great city of darkness clouds the horizon

I slip through the allies
avoiding the glances
of shady figures in the gloom.

Haughty eyes follow me from above windows
and hunt as dancers flee.

The park is long past overgrew
and choke my bare feet.

Beggers grab my arms
and scratch my lungs
with their pleas.

Gaudy signs break their voices
with their screams

The heart is stolen by a stranger
and is far gone.

Alone I sit in a doorway
a dead rose under my feet

First day of school

So today was the first day of school. On wednesday and thursday we always have "block days". On these block days we have hour and a half classes and a combined lunch. So today we had classes 1-3 and we started at 9:00-which was definitely a plus :)
First period I had French- I felt I had forgot everything over break, which is not by any means a good feeling. Next we had a community time where the whole school gets together for announcements. Today they were focusing the majority of the time on our musical. We are doing the musical Singing in the Rain, and our school goes all out-nearly the whole school gets involved. I, personally, am excited for costume crew and ticket sales. These are going to be a very busy next five weeks :) Then we went to 2nd period (marketing), and I had to basically improvise a whole presentation on Buckley's-a cough medicine that"tastes awful. But it works". That was interesting... Then lunch and finally my last class of the day. Although I could hardly call it a class. I am a teachers assistant (TA) for the admissions office. I am so excited-I get a name tag.
Very official, I know.

Since it was my first day, I didn't have to do much, so the day ended very well.

Well today was pretty basic I guess, but it was the first day so I didn't expect much :)

Well till later!

Ciao

Creme Brulee

So I must say I am very much in the mood for my creme brulee. Unfortunately even if I started right now I wouldn't even be able to eat it until tomorrow. The recipe is relatively simple, but the cooling time is torturous. I like to infuse my creme brulee with lavender blossoms that I bought in the South of France. Mmmm it smells so good... I had some friends over a week or so again, and we had a little fun torching them This one in particular was especially amusing. Maybe I'll make more this weekend...

Well it wasn't much, but it was a thought all the same :)

until next time!

Ciao
